Back Cover Summary:

Angela was one of the most popular girls in her high school before she disappeared without a trace. Nobody ever knew what became of her--not Georgina, her best friend, nor Kaiser, who was close with both girls. Then, fourteen years later, Angela's remains were discovered in the woods near Geo's childhood home and Kaiser--who became a detective with the Seattle police department--finally learned the truth: Angela was a victim of Calvin James.

To the authorities, Calvin was a notorious serial killer. But back in the day, Calvin was Geo's first love. Their relationship bordered on obsession from the moment they met, right up until the night Angela was killed. Geo carried the secret of Calvin's dark deeds until the evidence landed her in prison. But now, just as Geo is about to be released, new bodies start turning up--killed in the exact same manner as Angela. . . and soon Geo, Kaiser, and local law enforcement officials realize that what happened that fateful night is more complex and chilling than anyone could have imagined.

ATTWB Review:

If you've been struggling to find a book that will grab your attention and not let go, look no further. Recently, I found myself in a reading slump, unable to finish a single book. But then I picked up this thrilling novel and finished it in just two days!

The story follows Geo, a pharmaceutical executive whose seemingly perfect life with her CEO fiancé, Andrew, is turned upside down when she is sentenced to five years in prison. The twist? Geo has been hiding a dark secret since she was 16. Her high school boyfriend, Calvin James, is actually the infamous Sweetbay Strangler, and his first victim was Geo's best friend, Angela. Geo helped Calvin dispose of the body and kept the secret hidden for years.

The narrative alternates between the past and present from Geo's perspective, and the present-day viewpoint of Detective Kaiser Brody, who was also best friends with Geo and Angela. Kaiser secretly loved Geo, but she only saw him as a friend, blinded by her infatuation with the older Calvin.

The book kept my attention the entire time, thanks to its gripping plot and surprising twists. Just days before Geo's release from prison, new bodies are discovered, leading to shocking revelations about Geo's past and present. The ending left me on the edge of my seat, with unexpected twists that I never saw coming.

This novel was a perfect antidote to my reading slump. It was an easy read, yet full of suspense and intrigue. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a book that will keep them captivated from start to finish.
